The World Steel Association (worldsteel) has announced the finalists for the 17th Steelie Awards. The Steelie Awards recognise member companies for their contribution to the steel industry over a one-year period in a series of categories impacting the industry. The winners will be revealed on Monday, 12 October.
The Steelies are awarded in six categories:
Excellence in clean steel production:
- Ansteel Group Corporation Limited – HIFRI® green hydrogen zero carbon cleaner production practice
- ArcelorMittal – Circular economy for clean air in ArcelorMittal Differdange
- China Baowu – Massive improvement in air quality by developing and deploying low-temperature hydrolysis dry desulphurisation technology for blast furnace
- HBIS Group Co., Ltd. – Complete set of technology for reducing pollution and consumption of sintering flue gas
- JSW Steel Limited – A renewable green hydrogen and oxygen ecosystem for clean steel production
- Tenaris – Tenaris decarbonisation strategy on renewable electricity
- Ternium – From dust to trust: Autonomous emission reduction and intelligent suppression
Innovation in process and product innovation:
- Ansteel Group Corporation Limited – Intensified blast furnace smelting technology for high-TiO2-bearing vanadium titanomagnetite
- EMSTEEL – From metallurgical challenge to industrial breakthrough: High-toughness Si-killed jumbo sections without vacuum degassing
- HBIS Group Co., Ltd. – Key technological innovation and application of 2400 MPa grade ultra-high strength and toughness hot stamping steel
- JFE Steel Corporation – MD finish: A novel rolling-based surface engineering technology enabling whiteness and image clarity

The selection process varies by award. Entries are judged by selected expert panels using agreed performance criteria.
