Tata Steel has today signed a contract with Tenova – a world leading metals technology manufacturer – to deliver a state-of-the-art electric arc furnace¹ and additional advanced steelmaking equipment for its Port Talbot site in Wales, UK. This marks a significant milestone in the journey to produce greener steel in Port Talbot.
When it is commissioned from the end of 2027, the electric arc furnace (EAF) will reduce the site’s steelmaking carbon emissions by 90%, equivalent to 5 million tonnes of CO₂ a year.
