worldsteel is also happy to announce that Dr. Henrik ADAM will lead the association as Director General as of the middle of Q4 2026.

Dr. ADAM is currently the Executive Chairman of Tata Steel Netherlands Holding BV and serves as President of EUROFER, the European Steel Association, and Chairman of the Steel Institute VDEh in Germany.

He brings with him more than 25 years of leadership in both the steel and automotive sectors, having held roles at Tata Steel Europe and thyssenkrupp, overseeing operations across production, R&D, sales, supply chain, and strategy. He served as CEO at Tata Steel Europe and CEO of Electrical Steel at thyssenkrupp, giving him more than 15 years of C-suite experience.

Dr. ADAM succeeds Dr. Edwin BASSON, who will retire this year after more than 15 years of leading worldsteel.
