worldsteel runs four programmes to encourage steel companies to take a proactive approach in the area of sustainability:

Sustainability Charter

More than 40 worldsteel members have committed to the 9 Sustainability Principles and have been recognised as Charter Member.

Enquiries about the Charter should be made to Soo Jung Kim, Head, Sustainability Communications, worldsteel
(sustainabilty@worldsteel.org).

Sustainability Champions

worldsteel member companies who are leading the way to create a truly sustainable steel industry and society and who clearly demonstrate their commitment to sustainable development and the circular economy are recognised as Steel Sustainability Champions for one year.

Enquiries should be made to Soo Jung Kim, Head, Sustainability Communications, worldsteel
(sustainability@worldsteel.org).

Steelies

The Steelie Awards recognise member companies for their contribution to the steel industry over a one-year period in a series of categories impacting the industry.

The selection process for nominations varies between awards. Entries are judged by selected expert panels using agreed performance criteria.

Enquiries should be made to Bradley Forder, Head, Communications, worldsteel (comm@worldsteel.org).

Safety and Health Excellence Recognitions

As part of its commitment to the highest safety and health standards, every year in October worldsteel recognises excellence in some of its member companies for delivering demonstrable improvements in safety and health for everyone that works in the steel industry. The recognised companies fall under four categories: safety culture and leadership, occupational safety management, occupational health management and process safety management.

Enquiries should be made to Andy Purvis, Director, Sustainable Manufacturing, worldsteel (safety@worldsteel.org).
