Measuring in at 29 metres wide by 15 metres high and framed in between the Tower’s first and second floors approximately 60 metres off the ground, the Olympic Spectacular, a giant version of the world famous five interlocking rings that form the Olympic symbol, proudly projected across Paris. Painted in the famous Olympic colours, the rings will turn bright white at night, enabling them to shine across the Paris skyline.
The Spectacular is an incredible feat of engineering in terms of both its manufacture and erection. It started off its life as end-of-life scrap steel that were melted in an electric arc furnace using renewable electricity at our site in Châteauneuf before being pre-rolled at our Le Creusot site and then rolled further in Dunkerque, the heartbeat of our French operations and one of Europe’s largest steelmaking sites.
