In 1996, worldsteel launched its innovative worldwide life cycle inventory (LCI) study for steel products. This was the first time that an international LCI study of a specific material had been carried out. The study was updated in 2000, 2010 and annually since 2017.
A key goal of worldsteel is to provide support on the environmental credentials of steel to customers and users of steel, with the intention that those that specify and use materials in applications have access to relevant data to facilitate their own informed decision-making.
To this end, we have produced this form for you to complete which gives you access to the most comprehensive and reliable steel life cycle inventory data today.
Important note: Please read the LCI data usage agreement before completing this form.

7) The data provided by worldsteel contains the end-of-life recycling rate for steel products in specific sectors, and as regional or global averages. This is the amount of steel that is recycled back into the steelmaking process once a product has reached the end of its life. It is not the amount of scrap that was initially used to make the product. If you have a recycling rate, please specify this rate. Alternatively, if you would like us to use our average rate for a particular sector, as a regional or global average or as an overall average, please specify the sector (automotive, packaging, construction or all steel) and the region (global or Europe). *
8) Please specify any third parties involved in the proposed study (e.g. consultants, research institutes, government, customers etc.)
9) Attach a list of data categories relevant to your study. Where possible, worldsteel will provide data quality references for the key categories you require
10) Does your study include life cycle impact assessment? If yes, briefly describe the method employed.
11) Does your study adhere to the applicable ISO standards on life cycle assessment? *
12) Does your study include a comparative assertion? If yes, what is being compared?
13) Will your study be subjected to critical review? If yes, which format is used?
14) Will participation of steel industry experts be required/welcomed for your study?
15) Will the study results be available to worldsteel and/or the general public? If yes, when will the results be available?
