The steel industry is committed to offering employees the opportunity to further their education and develop their skills.
Not only is this a way of enhancing the quality of work and productivity but it also boosts employee satisfaction.
worldsteel provides three types of services to enhance training skills amongst the steel industry workforce:
steeluniversity is the learning and training programme of worldsteel. The programme delivers education and training to current and future employees of steel companies and related businesses.
Learning is delivered online via the steeluniversity website, integration into organisational learning management systems, and in person. steeluniversity delivers knowledge of steel manufacturing, ferrous metallurgy, steel applications, environment, safety, and the business of steel.
steeluniversity organises the annual steelChallenge competition for students and industry professionals to demonstrate their knowledge of steelmaking. Participants use steel manufacturing simulators to produce the required steel at the lowest total cost during the Regional Championship.
The winning student and industry professional from each of the five regions qualify for the World Championship where they compete to claim the title of world’s best steelmaker.
